Huka Falls

Huka Falls is one of New Zealand’s most spectacular natural attractions, located on the Waikato River near Taupo. The falls are renowned for their breathtaking beauty and immense power, with nearly a quarter of a million liters of water per second thundering over the falls and into the river below. This incredible flow rate makes Huka Falls one of the highest-flowing waterfalls in the world.

Waikato River

The Waikato River narrows dramatically from about 100 meters wide to just 15 meters as it passes through a narrow volcanic canyon, creating a dramatic and mesmerizing sight. The falls drop about 11 meters into the river below, and the sheer force of the water is both awe-inspiring and deafening. Visitors can experience Huka Falls up close by taking a jet boat tour that takes them to the base of the falls, where they can feel the spray on their faces. There are also walking tracks along both sides of the falls, offering various vantage points to admire the falls from different angles. The Spa Thermal Park to Huka Falls Walk is a popular route that starts at the gentle thermal waters of Otumuheke Stream and leads to thundering falls.

Taupo: A Lakeside Gem

Nestled on the shores of Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest freshwater lake, Taupo is a charming lakeside town that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and outdoor adventure. The crystal-clear waters of Lake Taupo, ranging from aquamarine blue to jade green, provide a stunning backdrop for a variety of water activities such as swimming, kayaking, fishing, and paddle boarding. The town is bustling with boutique shops, cafes, craft galleries, and art sculptures. You can stroll along the tree-lined promenade, relax at the many lakeside restaurants and bars, or take a scenic cruise to explore the lake’s hidden gems.
