A Dream Realized

In October 2001, WOW achieved one of its biggest dreams. The organization opened its permanent home: the World of Wearable Art and Classic Cars Museum. Since then, this unique attraction has welcomed thousands of visitors each year. They come from across New Zealand and around the world. Because the museum offers a permanent showcase, guests can now enjoy the world of wearable art experience all year round. It’s no longer limited to the annual show.

An Impressive Classic Car Collection

Alongside the wearable art exhibits, the museum also features an impressive collection of classic cars. Passionate collectors spent years sourcing these vehicles from around the world and across New Zealand. Today, the collection ranks among Australasia’s largest private collections. Because of this, car enthusiasts find just as much to admire here as fashion lovers do.

Striking Architecture

The museum’s building is just as captivating as what’s inside. A six-meter-high metallic aluminum ribbon wall wraps around the structure. Designers drew this concept from a dynamic wand-and-silk-taper performance at a previous WearableArt show. Because the aluminum fabric flows and twists like the original silk, the building itself becomes a living piece of art.
