Motukorea (Browns Island) has a fascinating history. It was heavily cultivated by local Maori pre-European arrival and was the first home of the European founders of Auckland city. Departing from the St Heliers Bay (30 minutes from Auckland CBD), you will be kitted out with paddling gear and receive a briefing from your knowledgeable and experienced guide. The one hour guided paddle to the island includes informative stops and interpretation along the way. On arriving at Motukorea, trek to the summit, taking in the panoramic views and learn about the island’s history. No previous sea kayaking experience is necessary. Duration: 4 hours. Includes Light refreshments on the island.
