South Island Guided Coach Tour | Accommodation, 19 Meals & 10 Included Activities | Max. 24 Passengers | Money-Back Guarantee
This 13-day South Island tour offers a relaxed, fully guided way to see the best of the South Island. A dedicated driver-guide handles the driving and local knowledge throughout. So you won’t need to plan a single logistics yourself. Instead, you can simply sit back and take in the scenery between stops.
First, the route starts in Wellington and crosses the Cook Strait by ferry. From there, it heads south. Along the way, you’ll visit the Omaka Aviation Heritage Museum in Blenheim. You’ll also walk the golden beaches of Abel Tasman National Park. After that, you’ll soak in the thermal pools at Hanmer Springs and taste wine in the Waipara Valley. You’ll explore the Moeraki Boulders and Larnach Castle too. Then, a Doubtful Sound cruise and time in Queenstown round out the middle of the trip. Finally, the tour crosses the Southern Alps aboard the TranzAlpine train into Christchurch.
Groups are capped at 24 guests. So the coach stays comfortable and unhurried throughout. As a result, this tour particularly suits couples, solo travelers, and small groups of friends. It’s a great fit for anyone who’d rather hand the logistics to someone else, especially those who prefer a gentler pace with fewer early starts. However, if you’d rather cover both islands instead, our 17 Day Ultimate New Zealand Tour follows a similar hotel-based, fully guided format. Alternatively, for a smaller, hostel-based option on this same route, see our 8 Day South Island Hidden Gems Small Group Tour. Or, if you’d prefer to drive yourself, browse our 9 Day South Island Self Drive Tour instead.
