Arrival in Christchurch
Most people leave the Northern Hemisphere on Thursday evening, arriving in Auckland early Saturday morning. You’ll lose a day crossing the dateline – but you get it back on the way home! From Auckland, it’s just a short flight to Christchurch on the South Island where we’ll meet you.
Journey to Kaikoura

- Whales
- Dolphins
- Fur seals
- Other marine species that feed in the surrounding nutrient-rich waters
Geological Wonders
We’ll walk to a lookout point where you can view fur seals basking on the rocks and playing in the coastal eddies. This stretch of rugged coastline was dramatically uplifted during the Kaikoura earthquake—offering a fascinating glimpse at brand-new land formations!
