Rotorua Travel Guide

Introduction
Rotorua is a town in the North Island of New Zealand. This town is situated along the southern shore of the Lake Rotorua in the Bay of Plenty. This city does not boast of a large population. If you are keen on adventure or just rejuvenating your selves, Rotorua is your ideal spot. Here is Rotorua you can experience the beauty of nature, fresh air and extreme adventure sports. This little town is filled with geysers, mud pools and steaming caters. Rotorua is surrounded by parks, lakes, volcanoes and plenty of recreational areas. This city is a major tourist attraction in the North.
 

 

Outdoor Activities
If you love the outdoors, there is lot that awaits you here in Rotorua. Just a walk in Rotorua is entertaining. You can spot stunning landscapes of the volcanic areas, crater lakes, ancient rainforests, alpine panorama, geothermal activity and just enjoy the coastal line. For those of you who like to do more than just walking, go ahead and get ready for a hike. You have many options for hiking. A visit to the Te Urewera National Park may prove to be a great hike. You can enjoy the wilderness and spot some beautiful birds. For another adventurous hike, you can hike up New Zealand’s always active volcano. It is indeed a very out of the discovery channel feeling that you get.

For those who are wilder, you have to do the Tandem Skydive. This is awesome. If you are courageous and wild, you are going to want to do this. In tandem skydiving, you jump out of an aircraft some 15,000 ft!!

If you are a water lover, you are at the right city my friend. There are umpteen cruises here. The water sports here are of a wide variety. You can go jet skiing, water rafting, canoeing, surfing, watch out for dolphins and so much more. Rotorua enjoys a long coastal line and people here are well aware of it. Just throw your head back and enjoy the sun, sand and surf. A day at the beach is just something you have to do here.

Some people like to learn about the history and culture of the places they visit. Rotorua is rich with history and showcases the rich Maori cultural activities. If you are keen on finding out more about the Maori culture a visit to Mitai Maori Village should do the trick. This place displays authentic Maori culture and is very spiritual. You will have a good taste of Maori culture here.

Another great way of getting to know the history of this city is by visiting the Rotorua Museum of art and history. The museum often has some fine exhibitions held here, you maybe lucky to attend one here on your visit. The rich heritage of this city can be strongly felt at this museum.


Shopping

Shopaholics, no need to fret, there are tons of places for you to go enjoy your day. You can busy your self buying souvenirs of the Maori culture for your friends back home. The Maoris are great with art and crafts. If you want to take back a piece of Rotorua with you, you should buy black pearls. The pearls here are of great quality. Blueberry wine is also fantastic.

Accommodation
Rotorua is a great place to visit at any time. Finding lodging here is never a problem. The hotels and motels here cater to the needs of tourists. Since this city has a high number of tourists, there are dozens of hotels available. Right from shacking it up in a small room to a fancy hotel with spa and other amenities, everything is available. Depending on your budget, you can find a suitable place. The hotels are well distributed and so you can enjoy staying either in the middle of the city, close to a beach, near the airport or near a hilly area. In a well furnished hotel, it would cost anywhere from 120 to 250 dollars per room.

Travelling
Traveling in Rotorua or to Rotorua is not a problem. You can find your way here either by air, road, train etc. you have plenty of car rentals at hand. The cheapest mode of transport is the bus or coach system and they are efficient as well as regular.
Rotorua has a very fascinating array of cafes, coffee shops, bars, clubs and restaurants for you. You name the cuisine and they have it for you but if your visiting Rotorua, there is no point going back home without tasting their traditional foods. So go ahead and try out a hangi meal. The wine and food here is absolutely top notch.

Believe you me when I say writing about the place doesn’t do it justice, you have to be there to believe how awesome this place is!!
