Palmerston North Travel Guide

Introduction:
Palmerston North is in the North Island of New Zealand. It ranks 11 in terms of population. A large percentage of its population is students. The atmosphere in this city is very friendly and inviting. This place is affectionately called Palmy by the Kiwis. Palmy is a beautiful to place spend your holidays and explore the Kiwi culture. It is an inland city. This city is propped up on the banks of the river Manawatu and the foot of the Tararua Mountain range. The city sports some really awe worthy scenes. Just a walk along the river or through the Manawatu Gorge or camping out is so much fun here. This city is proof of an amazing balance between the modern conveniences and technologies and the quality and easy of life back in the good old days. This city is vibrant and always alive especially since a high percentage of its residents are students.

Activities:
Palmerston North is famous for its shopping, dinning, wine and night life. If you are a shopaholic and you enjoy good deals, you will freak out here in Palmerston North. There are tons of places to shop at. You an also feed your starving stomachs with food at the fine restaurants this city offers. The night life in this city is rocking; tons of students flood the night clubs every night. So if you are a night bird, Palmerston North’s the place to be in. since we are talking about entertainment, Palmerston North has two amateur live theatre companies and one cinema.

There are museums, art galleries, science centers, parks, and gardens etc that are fun places to spend your time.
Govett-Brewster is a famous art gallery in this city. It has works of leading artist as well as upcoming artist on display. It has exhibition that are delightful. It displays works of mostly artists from New Zealand and the Pacific Rim. Pukemaram is a beautiful English garden located in this city. It is Very Victorian in its look. It overlooks the west coast and the garden is a pleasant mixture of bricked terraces, sunken gardens, and a woodland dell which is filled with mature trees and a Macrocarpa that is 80 ft high. If you want to visit this garden, you will need to have an advance booking. Arena Manawatu is another great place. It is a huge stadium that hosts on an average about 8,000 events a year. It is also home to many sports activities. About 36 different sports are played at this stadium.
Himatangi Beach is also a great place to have fun. Sand dunes are found close by and they are the largest in the world.
Traveling here is no problem. The private and public transport system is very efficient. You can get cabs to pick you up from you hotel to wherever you want to go.

How to Get There:
Palmerston North is about a seven hour drive from Auckland. It is easy to travel to Palmerston by road. It is also accessible by flight. It has an international airport. It has an incredible record for operating in all kinds of weather.

The accommodation over here is top notch. You can find your self some of the most luxurious hotels to live in. prices vary depending on the room and view you choose. The prices range from $90 - $185 for a package deal at the hotels. This city is a great place to take your family to and just enjoy and relax your self.
