Napier is a port city in Hawke’s bay in New Zealand. To its south lies Hasting which is the twin city of Napier. This city is not overly populated and hence is a great tourist resort. It continues to attract people from all over. This city has amazing climate. It has great beaches, coastal plains, sunny weather, and beautiful vineyards. This is the only city in Hawke’s bay.

Hawke’s Bay Museum:

For those of you interested in learning about the history of this fine city, a visit to Hawke’s bay Museum should be interesting for you. This museum has displayed the 1931 Hawke’s Bay earthquake. You will even find fossils, dinosaurs and Maori treasures.

In the first week of February, Napier sports a fun wine and food festival. The city is packed with people from all over during the festival. Napier has many local vineyards and they all join in to make the festival a great success.

This fest too is held in February. This art deco features a jazz band, a bi-plane swoop, and exhibitions. This festival usually sports a 1930s theme.

Nearly 20,000 people or more take a guided Art Deco walk. This is a great way of strolling through the city and having the guide bring the architecture of the city alive to you. These walks are held twice a day all year around except on Christmas day.

For all you bird lovers this is a beautiful bird sanctuary. Birds can be well sported here in the months from November to February. It happens to be the largest mainland gannet colony in the world. The Gannet beach is a great place to relax and spend your time.

This is a fantastic place to swim. While swimming here you will be able to spot dolphins, seals, penguins, sea lions, otters etc. here at this site, there is a penguin recovery workshop and you have dolphin tours as well.

This place celebrates the country’s national symbol. It is opened every day. The shows are on everyday with shows at 1pm.

For those of you, who love the outdoors and not history stuff; don’t worry you to will be entertained well in this city. Napier has many beautiful beaches and offers a variety of water sports and activities. Napier caters to all water lovers. It offers you fun water activities like scuba diving, sea kayaking, surfing, river rafting, fishing, jet skiing and a look at its marine life.

The beaches here in Napier are very inviting. At the beaches you get to soak in the sun, sand and water. Some times the heat can be a bit unbearable and carrying a sun block is always a good idea. All in all a day at the beach is fun and entertaining.

Napier Accommodation:

You can also book your mode of transport through any travel agency. The airport is situated in Napier-Hastings. It is not very far away. You can find some great deals if you book early.

Whenever you visit a new city or country, you want to come back with not just souvenirs and pictures. You want more, you want to shop. Shopping here in Napier is very exciting. Napier has many shopping streets and a whole load of shopping malls. Just walk in to any one of them and I am sure you will be able to find everything you are looking for.

People here in Napier like having a good time. Stay long enough in Napier and you will find that the city is indeed happening. All through the year the city hosts various concerts and exhibitions. Entertainment is important to the people and they sure have a fair deal of entertainment here.
