Events
Every year the city sees people from all over for what is called the Surrey Park Game. This is a very old tradition in the city, there are teams formed between the age group of 12years to 60years and
nearly at the time of the event there are at least 112 teams and the game of basketball is played the team to win the finals gets a trophy specially signed by the president and this trophy is a
revolving trophy until the tenure of the president completes. There is a stadium which has been specially built by the Prime Minister Helen Clark to let people enjoy the game prior to this the game
used to be played on a local basketball court. There are nearly seventy to eighty thousand viewers who come to cheer the players majority of them are tourists. Recently even tourists are allowed to
enter the game provided they register a team with the stadium at least five days prior to the event day. The tourists are provided with all the necessary clothing and shoes for the game and have to be
returned after the game is over. Apart from this major event there are other art events going along as the year passes by and these events are generally held by Non Profit Organizations or by Fund
