In the city there is a old tradition which takes place every year the best is that people from all over come to enjoy this event all you have to do is travel on a motorbike the whole week instead of the cars and you shall see the various types of bikes and motorcycles and if you tend to pass by The Kelvin Park on Fitzherbert St. you get a free breakfast depending on the type of bike you are on hence, this event itself is called the Bike Wise Day.
The next most important event is the B W camping festival this event takes place in the month of December and is at a beach. The main thrill in this camping event is that it takes place as if everyone in the camp was to be on a ship and you could choose to be a part of the crew by helping or you could enjoy the camp as if you were on a voyage by sun bathing while listening to great music, or taking a dip in the sea.

Attractions

One of the biggest attractions in the city of Gisborne is its Wineries and vineyards which produce the finest and unique flavors of award winning wines of international standards. Tourist from all over come to attend these vineyards but prior to that they would need to seek permission and take prior appointments. The vineyards are not very far off from the main city of Gisborne; they are hardly 15 minutes away from the main city.
The next best attraction found in the city is the museums which contain many valued historic artifacts not only of the city but also of the nations. Tourist come ahead to enjoy the collected artifacts. The famous museums of Gisborne are; Gisborne Aviation Museum, East Coast Museum of technology and also the Tairawhiti Museum.
The tourist who enjoy art also have room for their choice, there are many art galleries which contain beautiful works of various renowned artists. These galleries are easily accessible by tourist they also have an option to go ahead and purchase the peace of art of their choice however one cannot bargain at any of the art galleries. Must visit

One of the most ancient and best attractions consists of an old steam engine which was built in the year 1897. The train started from Gisborne to various other cities in the year 1910 till 1942, the steam train was made use of. Vintage enthusiastic started collecting such abandoned trains and kept them in a public place for public viewing. One such peace of technology is the WA 165 which is the first of its kind in the city of Gisborne. Usually tourists get a small ride by the Steam Locomotive.
