Auckland is the largest city in the North Island of New Zealand. Infact it happens to be New Zealand’s largest urban city with the most population. According to recent findings, the population in Auckland is believed to be over a million. At one point of time it was the capital of New Zealand, today Wellington is capital of New Zealand. Though not the capital, Auckland is a busy commercial and industrial centre. It is booming with life and energy at all times. This beautiful city lies nestled within and the isthmus of the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea.

Auckland is a beautiful city filled with forests, volcanic mountains, beaches and tons of fun activities. It is hard to be bored in a city like this. The beauty of this city is its unspoilt trees and its glorious views. This city is fondly nicknamed as “the city of sails”. The name is very fitting since a survey revealed that Auckland has more boats per capita than any other city in this world.
You cannot help but get attracted to the water since it practically surrounds you. The water is ever so inviting. The beaches here are definitely some of the best in the world. You can go swimming, fishing, sailing, diving, windsurfing, canoeing, scuba diving etc. there are so many fun stuff to do, you even have water sports like jet skiing, water polo, wakeboarding etc. for those who love the water, you couldn’t ask for a better destination than Auckland. You have a wide range of water activities to choose from and you can soak in all the water you want and can try new beaches every other week.

If you want to catch a glimpse of everything that Auckland has to offer, just hop on to an Auckland Explorer bus. It will take you to 14 of the biggest attractions in the city. The explorer busses are really a great way to explore Auckland, you get to jump off from one bus admire that place and when your done hop onto another bus to another sight.
The Fuller Cruises too are great fun; they allow you to explore the Auckland Harbor and the Hauraki Gulf. Depending on what cruise you would like to take, you can enjoy the islands around. If you are adventurous, you can go on the Harley Davidson tour. Yes you get to go sightseeing on a Harley Davidson. Sounds fun doesn’t it?

What are the interesting things you should see in Auckland?
Everyone is different right, so it is basically up to you to choose what you want to do in Auckland. Like I said earlier, there are plenty of adventurous activities; the city also has rich history. So you decide what you want to see and how you would like to divide your time here in Auckland.

Sky city: this is a great place to be at. You get to take a ride in a glass lift that takes you up to the Sky tower. The Sky tower is the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. I guess I don’t have to tell you that the vision from up there is gorgeous. It gives you a 360 degree view of Auckland and all its harbors.

Maori:
It is an Auckland Museum. You can have insight on the culture and history of the place here at this museum. The museum often has exhibitions.

Howick Historical Village:
If you want to have a good look at Auckland’s history, this museum is a great place to visit. This museum brings to life the colonial past of Auckland in a live way. So for all you history lovers this is definitely a must visit.

This Museum is another great place to learn about the rich history of this beautiful city. It has priceless Maori treasures, daily Maori cultural performances and some amazing natural history put on display.

Rainbows End:
This is an amusement park packed with great rides and more entertainment. It is considered as one of the best theme parks in the country. The park sports a great giant drop tower and many fun roller coaster rides. It is a fun place for your entire family to visit. You are bound to have fun.

Traveling:
Auckland has a huge international airport. This airport is barely 45mins away from the main city itself. Most people travel to Auckland by air. But incase you don’t want to fly; you do have other options as well. Traveling in Auckland too is not a problem. The public transportation system in Auckland is very efficient. Buses are available every ten minutes from 8am to 6pm all the seven days of the week. If you don’t like the buses, you can hail a cab, they are always available.

Accommodation:
Accommodation is not something you need to worry about. There are hotels well displaced hotels, all over the city. The hotels are charming, based on where you would like to stay, you can find a room. Attractions in Auckland:
Aotea square markets:
This happens to be the city’s largest open air market. It is always busy with life and color. The market sports blue and white tents everywhere. This market is a reflection of this city’s rich urban, earthy and creative spirits. You can find some amazing arts and crafts. You can even find some ethnic cuisines here in this famous market.

Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki:
This art gallery sports international art exhibitions every now and then. You can find portraits of the Maori and New Zealand landscape in most of the paintings.

Auckland Zoo:
You can enjoy a wild day at the zoo. Here at this amazing zoo, you can enjoy eye contact with some of the world’s most fascinating creatures. You can watch the graceful giraffe, and see zebras, rhinos and springbok gazing. You can also catch a glimpse of the amazing marine life in the forms of sea-lions.
