Come and join us aboard our powerful 12 m purpose-built Sportsfisher, designed for offshore operation with its big 110sq ft cockpit and wide beam offering a safe and stable platform even in relatively rough seas.
We are licensed to carry up to 18 passengers in enclosed waters, 12 passengers in inshore waters and up to 5 in the restricted coastal waters of the 3 Kings or Ranfurly Banks. The big cockpit can comfortably accommodate 7 anglers or 8 divers.

Take on the challenge of landing one of New Zealand’s' big pelagic game fish: - blue & striped marlin, spearfish, yellow fin tuna, mako & other shark species as well as smaller fish like mahi mahi and albacore tuna that make excellent eating. On extended charters, (weather permitting) we recommend night drifting for the elusive broad bill swordfish – one of the most powerful fish (pound for pound) in the sea.
Sunfish Charters encourage tag and release but will respect the angler's decision.
Target the fast moving, kingfish, and trevally; enjoy the sport of a big kahwai on light tackle, or test your skills on snapper, terakihi, hapuka, gurnard, grouper and other territorial species.
Get the best of both worlds with a 24 hour trip - fish the afternoons and changing light followed by a night drift for broadbill swordfish (weather permitting) then be in the right spot in the early morning to catch the best feeding time.
Take the opportunity to discover the beautiful bays and coastal landscapes that has made New Zealand famous, experience nature and marine life close up, share your day with pods of Dolphins and enjoy a picnic or lunch on board.
"Sunfish" has an enclosed fly bridge with seating for 8 as well as accommodation for a further 6 in the salon or cockpit. For extended trips with live-aboard, accommodation is limited to 5 to 6 guests.
